Dear Graduating Seniors and Families,

I never dreamed that we would conclude the 2020 school year like this, but here we are. I had so looked forward to addressing this graduating class the way it has been done for so long now. I am still looking forward to that moment, but obviously, we have to adapt to the circumstances. That is a lesson in life that we all must learn at some time.

I want to keep you informed of how Somerset High School plans to celebrate this accomplishment. The following are a list of graduation events, recognitions, and instructions to help with this process. This document will be emailed to all students as well for easy access of links to documents, e-mails, or maps.

We are holding out hope for an in-person recognition ceremony later in the summer (in addition to the events listed above) if government regulations permit. However, we feel that it is important to not wait too long to confer diplomas upon you so that we do not limit your opportunities as you seek employment, military, or college opportunities and thus made the decision to give diplomas to seniors in May rather than wait and potentially keep you from opportunities requiring a diploma. We are also hoping for an in-person Project Graduation celebration if permitted. If this is not a possibility, an alternate means of giving away Project Graduation prizes will be communicated by Student Council representatives as soon as possible.

Seniors, we miss you and truly hate that things are the way they are, but we are striving to do everything within our grasp to honor and recognize the Class of 2020 to give you back some of the moments and opportunities that may have been otherwise missed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stay tuned for updates and announcements which will be made on our website, Facebook page, and/or OneCall. Feel free to contact the high school with any questions.

Wishing you all the best,
