Music students at Hopkins learn about Japanese Culture during the month of January. Students explored the avenues of language, music, art, games and customs. They learned about the instruments with their use and historical importance. Instruments like the Shakuhachi, Koto and Taiko drum. They listened to the "Shogatsu" New Year's Festival to find and identify those instruments.
Special thanks to our Japanese students who helped to teach correct pronunciations and answer other cultural questions.
