Somerset Independent School students will return to school under the Purple/Gold hybrid model on January 4, 2021. This method allows students to receive in-person instruction and social interaction on a consistent basis while also lowering risks by limiting numbers in each classroom/building/bus by roughly half. Letters were mailed to each student on December 23rd with a notice for your student of their learning group - Purple, Gold, or Virtual Learning.
On January 14th, we will evaluate all current data and, if permissible under the Governor’s Executive Order, will return to in-person instruction five days per week (four days per week at SHS) on January 19th. However, if COVID-19 related data deteriorates we may have to remain in Purple/Gold or divert back to 100% distance learning. We will be monitoring several metrics for school decisions.
Please be aware that all Healthy at School Guidance must be followed which includes social distancing and wearing masks. This means that all individuals in the school building must wear masks at all times unless actively eating or drinking.
If you wish to change your child’s instructional delivery method, you will need to contact the school principal by January 8th. You can email the principal from now to January 8th or call the school during school hours from January 4th – 8th to request a change to instructional delivery method.
