Hello and welcome to my classroom! First, I’d like to introduce myself to you. I will be your child's 2nd grade teacher this year. This is my 15th year of teaching. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Louisville. I have experience teaching Kindergarten through fourth grade.
My convictions about student learning include commitments to: relationships with students, high expectations for all, and the construction of knowledge in a dialogical learning environment. I believe quality instruction occurs in classrooms in which students are given the opportunity to have a choice in their own learning and construct their knowledge through their experiences. Student learning is more meaningful when the students are “doing” and “talking” instead of sitting and listening. I also believe relationships are a must in achieving high expectations with students. In order to build relationships in my classroom, I promote student expression and interaction between students during the learning process.
If you have questions or concerns, my classroom door is always open! You may also email me at Senta.Reams@Somerset.kyschools.us or call me at (606)-678-8707.
I am looking forward to being your partner in educating your child and I am confident we are going to have a successful school year!
