I have taught at Meece Middle School for 26 years. I am originally from Auburn, Alabama, where I graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and a Master of Education degree in elementary education. I earned my Rank 1 at Eastern Kentucky University.
After college, (before I went back to earn a degree in education), I worked full-time for the Appalachia Service Project, a home repair ministry associated with the United Methodist Church. I was based in Johnson City, Tennessee. Later, I worked full-time for three years for a citizens social justice group, Kentuckians For The Commonwealth, based in Prestonsburg. I left KFTC to return to Auburn and attend graduate school. I began teaching in Somerset in August of 1994.
My teaching philosophy is simple. All children can learn, and all can learn at a rapid pace. Everyone is a unique human being, and therefore, a unique learner. I will work in my classroom to ensure that as many learning styles are met as possible, and that each child who gives his best effort will benefit from a high-quality learning experience.
I am very excited about the 2020-2021 school year. Please feel free to call me at school, (678-5821), or email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you ever have questions or concerns, or if there is something you need me to know.
