Somerset High School DECA students left Somerset, Kentucky on Friday, November 2nd for an educational, fun-filled trip to Cincinnati, Ohio. On the way to Cincinnati the students took a behind the scenes tour of the Newport Aquarium. They got to see how the animals were fed, the role of the different members of the aquarium crew, and received various details about many of the animals housed in the facility. The students also spent time in the aquarium looking at all of the animal exhibits. The next stop was a marketing tour of the Reds Great American Ballpark. While on the tour, the students visited the Diamond Club, press box, Red’s dugout, and the Reds Hall of Fame. The students learned about the history, marketing, and management of the ballpark. That evening the students spent time shopping at Kenwood Towne Centre where they saw retail marketing first hand. The last stop of the evening was at the Sports Plus recreational facility where they participated had fun doing indoor rock climbing, zip lining and jumping on various trampolines. On Saturday morning the students visited Top Golf where they tried out their golfing skills in an indoor driving range. On the way back to Kentucky, the students stopped at the Kentucky Horse Park where they saw some aspects of what Kentucky is known for – horses. The students were able to tour the grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park as well as do a guided tour of the horse racing museum.
