Planting Hope at Rocky Hollow Park

Planting Hope at Rocky Hollow

Somerset High School GEAR UP Leadership Club continues their efforts to increase opportunities for families in Pulaski County. The Club and SHS’ Project Purple are collaborating with the Lake Cumberland Master Gardeners and PRIDE to convert Rocky Hollow Park into a native woodland. The students are under the guidance of Lindsey Gentry, GEAR UP College and Career Guide, and Jennifer Johnson, Youth Service Center. The purpose of this project is to clean the park, increase biological diversity, and, in turn, reduce the amount of herbicide used in this area. This is a continual project, steadfast in the commitment to harvest hope and safe spaces for our children. A special thank you to Mayor Girdler for providing the evening’s meal, and Melanie Lawless for acquiring the PRIDE grant.
