SHS Students Recognize Homelessness Day

SHS Homelessness Day

Students at Somerset High School declared Friday, April 21st Homelessness Day and wore purple to raise awareness of homelessness in the community.  The day is one of the events leading up to the second annual CardBoard Nation.  The SHS and Pulaski County High School FBLA clubs are working hard to prepare for the sleepout event.  Students will get a taste of the homeless experience by sleeping in cardboard boxes.  The evening will consist of live music from Mount Zion Bluegrass Band, cardboard assembly and contest, and making homeless mats.

CardBoard Nation will be located in First Baptist parking lot on Main Street.  Registration starts at 6:00 PM and the opening ceremony will begin at 6:45 PM.  Registration is $10 and all proceeds go to Over My Head Homeless Shelter.  Donations of blankets, coats, and money will also be collected.

For more information or to sponsor the event, contact Elizabeth Schroer (SHS FBLA Sponsor) at or James Murray (PC FBLA Sponsor) at with any questions.

Special thanks to our platinum sponsors, First Southern National Bank and Cumberland Security Bank.
