Project DARIS Visits Somerset High School

Project DARIS recently visited Somerset High School to educate our students on substance abuse which is commonly prevalent in our area today. Project DARIS stands for Drug Awareness Resources in Schools. Project DARIS is a free substance abuse prevention education program for grades k-12.  Education and resources are provided by pharmacist, nurses and many other healthcare professionals.  Dr. Robert Goforth presented students with information on the harmful effects of abusing prescription medicines, illegal drugs such as cocaine, heroin and many more.  Melissa Dye shared the story of her son, Daris’s fight with addiction and how his life sadly ended due to drug abuse.  We encourage our community to get informed of the epidemic that is taking out an entire generation of young people. Talk to your kids today about the harmful effects of drugs.
