UNITE Visits Somerset High School

Operation UNITE’s On The Move Drug Prevention Program recently visited Somerset High School.  The one-of-a kind traveling classroom educated students about drugs and their effects.  All sophomores participated in the five component program which included:  interactive mobile classroom, simulated impaired driving experience, fatal vision tri-cycle course, fatal reactions and fatal reflections.  The simulated impaired driving experience allowed the students to drive a go-cart while feeling the effects of a delays response which simulated drug/alcohol impairment.  Many students ended up crashing over cones and running over human cardboard cutouts.  This free program, offered by Operation UNITE and coordinated by the Somerset Youth Service Center with the support of the Somerset High school staff, proved to be a valuable learning experience. In the photo Katie Myers and Hashan Perkins are participating in the fatal vision tri-cycle course to simulate the effects of impaired driving from alcohol and other drugs.
