I am happy to be part of the Hopkins staff and love being a third grade teacher. I attended Hopkins, Meece and graduated from Somerset High School, so I have been here for most of my life and I am proud to be a Briar Jumper! I graduated from Eastern Kentucky University and did my graduate work at both EKU and University of Wisconsin.
I started teaching Art here at Hopkins. While in Wisconsin, I was a Reading Specialist and worked with Gifted and Talented classes. I taught 5th grade at Memorial and kindergarten, 3rd and 4th here at Hopkins. When asked what my favorite grade is to teach, it's always the grade I am teaching because I love what I do. Helping children learn and grow into the best person they can be, is a wonderful job.
I am married to Mike Tarter and we have 2 children, Andy and Ellie. I am a dog person and have 2, Buddy and Bandit. In my free time, which there doesn't seem to be a lot of, I like to garden, love to do artsy projects, hang out with my family and of course, cheer on the Jumpers.
I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year. Below is some classroom information that may be helpful.

Friday Folders-Please check your child's purple folder each week on Friday for our weekly newsletter, school communications, daily work and tests.
Snacks- If you would like to send a snack for our class, please remember food allergies-no nuts of any kind! A small snack between Math and Reading has really helped keep my students alert. If you can help with sending snack occasionally that would be great.
